Lifespan for the red panda is longer in captivity then in the wild. In captivity they have people taking care of them, so if sickness or disease comes in they can be taken care of. Also in captivity, they don't have to worry about their food source running out because it'll always be there for them. Fun fact, the longest life of a red panda to date in captivity is 21 years, compared to the average lifespan which is 9 years.
