The red panda's outer covering is almost the colour of burnt orange, that colour is seen on their dorsal side, however their whole ventral side is the colour black, including their paws. The red panda's head however is a blend of the burnt orange and then white is mixed in to give them the masked face look. The burnt orange fames the face. The ears are also the colour white. Their tail is the same burnt orange as the dorsal side, however it is a ringed tail, and where the rings are you can see white is mixed into the fur. The tips of the tail is black. The importance of their colouring is for camouflage, their fur matches the moss that grows on the trees they live on. They are covered in soft, thick fur, that can thicken depending on the climate. So this is important because being up in those high elevations and with the unpredictable weather these days, they are prepared.
